ROC Boxing and Gracious Dance hold practice ahead of Willow Domestic Violence Center fundraiser Hunter Wright News10NBC ROCHESTER, N.Y. — ROC Boxing held a practice session with Gracious Dance and coach Josh Leonardo Friday night to support the Willow Domestic Violence Center. The event was open to anyone who wanted to practice boxing and get involved in the cause. Organizers said the goal was to show how boxing can help those affected by domestic violence. “I think when anybody has a passion, and when someone like a coach like Josh can see something like that, especially with some women I’ve worked with at women’s shelters, being able to have people focus their mind and their agility and fitness on something like boxing, I think it brings out the best in people because you have to be able to be smart, you have to be able to listen and be able to work with a group and figure out a way you can make it better,” said Jake Bishop, director of the Dezio & Gingello Foundation. The boxing class fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. at the ROC Boxing and Fitness facility on Atlantic Avenue.
