First Alert Weather: Tracking showers and wind at times this weekend; possible first snow late next week Nate Morris News10NBC ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Back to reality after summer-like conditions earlier this week. We’re waking up to the low 40s and will only see the mercury climb to the low 50s this afternoon, with skies turning cloudy and passing showers likely east of I-390 through the day. The wind will shift this evening which will bring some showers into Rochester and the rest of the region as a whole from the north around 6-8pm. We’re Green on the Threat Tracker over the next ten days, but are closely watching the first chances for snow late next week… A little less chilly tomorrow morning with temps starting off in the mid 40s. It’ll be a partly cloudy day and drier overall, but it will be MUCH breezier as gusts out of the west reach up to 30 MPH for Rochester and the FLX; up to 40 MPH in the Niagara Frontier. Lake enhanced showers are likely by late Sunday evening, lasting overnight and through Monday AM. The breeze will also continue Monday but should calm down by Monday evening. Temperatures rebound on Tuesday, but take a major dip later in the week as much colder northern air breaks free and moves down to our area. At the same time, a coastal low will develop, which means we may be seeing our first wet flakes of the year mixed with some rain. It is still too early for more specific details, and the forecast is bound to change… Where, when, and how much snow we see will depend on the strength of the coastal low and its position. A stronger and more westward low would bring greater chances for snow. We’ll continue to monitor the trends, so stay tuned! After the low passes, cold air fills in behind which may spark up some morning lake flakes next Saturday. Again, this isn’t set in stone. Either way, we can say goodbye to the summer feel…
