Florida woman sentenced for role in bank fraud scheme involving WNY company — Rochester Business news

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Florida woman has been sentenced for her role in a bank fraud scheme involving a company in Western New York. Renee Thompson, 53, has been sentenced to serve three years probation, to include six months home confinement, and ordered to pay $28,500 in restitution. She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States. Thompson worked with others to steal a $12,914 check from a WNY company and altered it to make it payable to her. Federal prosecutors say Thompson and the others then used the victim s company name, address, bank account number, routing number, and signature to create 16 more fraudulent checks. After depositing the checks, Thompson got over $205,780. The post Florida woman sentenced for role in bank fraud scheme involving WNY company appeared first on WHEC.com.
