First Alert Weather: Tracking breezy winds and showers at times to start the week Nate Morris News10NBC ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A few showers are still ongoing this morning in Northern and Central NY, while skies begin to temporarily clear in Western New York. It’s not as cool a morning as yesterday, but breezier. Winds will increase out of the southwest gusting up to 20-30 MPH for most today, with areas downwind of Lake Erie seeing up to 40 MPH. Clouds return with a cold front later this afternoon, bringing a slight chance for a shower. Lake enhanced showers follow behind, lasting overnight through tomorrow morning. It stays breezy tomorrow as well with northwest gusts 25-35 MPH. Showers end Monday afternoon, but skies remain cloudy and air remains cool with highs in the low 50s. Tuesday we warm up nicely with temps rising to near 60 degrees, and we should stay dry. It may be breezy yet again however. Wednesday is Veteran’s Day and we expect it to be partly cloudy and seasonably cool. Thursday another, stronger low pressure system enters the region. If the low is strong enough and west enough, it could pull in enough cold air to cause some wet snowflakes down south come Friday and Saturday. But the air likely still won’t be cold enough for Rochester and the lakeshore to see anything other than rain. It is too early to determine both the likelihood of snow at all and the amounts if there is snow, but higher elevations have the best chance. It would be a wet and slushy snow as well. We’ll have a better idea as we draw closer, so make sure to stay tuned. Right now however there is no reason to raise any alarm so we stay Green on the Threat Tracker.
